Trainee Recruitment

TRAINING AT LBMW
LBMW recruits two trainees a year. Application by CV and covering letter to Susie Hust by the deadline of 31st May two years in advance, this can be in hard copy or email.

TRAINING CONTRACT
Each trainee will spend six months in each of four seats:

Private Client
Litigation & Company/Commercial
Education, Charity and Ecclesiastical
Commercial Property.

You will sit with either a Partner or a senior solicitor, with regular appraisals. You will have your own stable of files and will be expected to take on responsibility early in your training, including direct communication with clients, other solicitors and intermediaries; with the support of the team this helps you to develop the skills necessary to become a successful solicitor.

LBMW
The Partners do not expect you to spend all your time working and the firm encourages a social life, with sports and charity events throughout the year.

THE PROCESS
The first selection takes place in July when a group are invited to attend an Open Day, which is intended to give you an opportunity to learn more about the firm, what we do and who we are. The day involves meeting the existing trainees and their supervisors as well as other staff. The Open Day is also an opportunity to ask questions of us all, as well as meeting other prospective trainees.
Following this Open Day, a small group will be invited to attend interview, usually in early September. This interview last approximately an hour and will include two partners and Susie Hust. The interview usually looks at your CV, studies and interests finishing with a non-law question to ascertain your ability to put forward an argument and debate coherently. You will also be offered the opportunity to ask any questions of the panel that may have occurred to you since the Open Day or as a result of the Open Day.

Following the interview we will be in contact as quickly as possible. We ask that, should you be offered a training contract with the firm, you can advise us of your decision equally quickly so that we may let other applicants know.

RECRUITMENT POLICY
LBMW are an equal opportunities employer and are committed to providing training for its entire staff in equal opportunities practice.

KEEPING IN TOUCH
For the successful candidates, during the period from your interview to commencing your Training Contract with us, we keep in touch inviting you to various all social events, as well as inviting to you attend the firm's cricket fixtures – playing if possible ! So that when your first day comes it is not quite as daunting as it could be and there will be some familiar faces.
